Track & Field Collects Academic Honors For Eighth Straight Year

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Oregon State women's track & field squad was honored on Thursday morning for its impressive work in the classroom when the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the Beavers as one of its 2012 Division I All-Academic Track & Field Teams. A total of 171 institutions earned the distinction as a result of having a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher. With a 3.42 mark, Oregon State tied for the 19th-highest GPA out of all 171 schools and had the best grades out of the seven Pac-12 universities on the list. The recognition marks the eighth consecutive year OSU has earned team academic accolades after another successful track & field season. The school's cross country team has also nabbed the same honor for eight straight years. Duke reported the top cumulative GPA among Division I women's programs through the spring 2012 semester with a mark of 3.58. Among all conferences, the BIG EAST led with 12 teams named All-Academic.
