Wheeler's Win Highlights Mt. Hood Track & Field Festival For Beavers

GRESHAM, Ore. - Freshman Emil Wheeler ran a career-best in the 5,000-meters Saturday at the Mt. Hood Track & Field Festival for her first career event win. Wheeler won the 5,000 with a time of 17:42.96 which is a personal best by nearly two seconds. Her previous best was 17:44.20 at the Oregon Relays last month. Lorine Cruz finished the 5,000 in a time of 18:32.21 in her first time running the distance this year to finish fourth while Jordan Englehardt and Joslynn Corredor finished fifth and sixth respectively in the event. Whitney Pitman finished fourth in the 1,500 with a time of 5:02.06 while Laurel Parks finished fifth in the event with a time of 5:04.58. The Beavers hit the road next weekend when they head to Tucson, Ariz. for the Pacific-10 Conference Track & Field Championships May 13-14. Women's 1500 Meter Run
