Swimming Wraps up USA Nationals

Atlanta, Ga. - The three swimmers representing Oregon State at the USA Nationals meet in Atlanta, Ga. finished their weekend of competition today.

Crystal Kibby, Shelby Webber and Aya Fujimura were the three athletes representing Oregon State at the USA Nationals. All three were competing to hopefully notch an Olympic trial qualifying time.

Webber was the lone Beaver athlete that notched an Olympic trial qualifying time. Webber finished the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:03.98 which qualified her for the Olympic trials. The qualifying time for the 100-meter backstroke is 1:03.99.

Webber also competed in the 200-meter individual medley, the 100-meter freestyle and the 200-meter freestyle. She finished the individual medley with a time of 2:25.78, the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 59.11 and the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:08.99.

Kibby competed in the 200-meter individual medley, the 400-meter individual medley, the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter breaststroke. Her best event of the weekend was the 200-meter breaststroke where she qualified for the finals with her time of 2:37.16, falling short of the qualifying time by under two seconds.

Fujimura competed in the 100-meter butterfly and the 200-meter butterfly this weekend. Fujimura completed the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:22.71. She finished the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:05.03.

The Beavers return to action December 18 when they take on the University of Hawaii during their winter training trip.
