Swimming Concludes Day One at the Pac-10 Championships

Federal Way, Wash. - The Oregon State women's swim team competed in day one of the Pacific-10 Championships Wednesday night at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. The Beavers only competed in two events on the day, the 800-yard freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay.

Oregon State started the 2011 Pac-10 Championships by falling short of their season best in the 200 medley relay by .01 of a second. The group consisting of Jenni Dole, Marisa Warman, Rachel O'Brien, and Ashley Kerekanich placed fifth with a time of 1:42.75 just missing a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Championships by .05 seconds.

With nearly a five second improvement from the season best time of put up at the Area Invitational back in November, the 800 freestyle relay group consisting of Rachel O'Brien, Aya Fujimura, Maggie Hanson, and Ocean Trail placed eighth with a time of 7:30.80.

Tomorrow the Beavers will compete in the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, and the 200 freestyle relay. Preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. with the finals starting at 6 p.m.
