Everyday Champion -- Dani Gilmore
June 12, 2012
Dani Gilmore made an immediate impact in her freshman season with the Oregon State softball team, helping the Beavers make their first postseason trip and win their most games in five years while setting school records for runs scored and RBI.
The native of West Hills, Calif., was second on the team with a .322 batting average and scored the third-most runs (48) and stole the second-most bases (17) in school history. She also added nine homers, the most by a Beavers' frosh since Tarrah Beyster in 1997.
Away from the diamond, she is proud to be the first Gilmore to attend college and wants to make her family proud by earning a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Gilmore said Oregon State was the place she wanted to be right when she stepped on campus, and Beaver Nation is fortunate to have the privilege to watch her play for three more years.
