Five Teams Top 3.0 Mark for Fall 2009 Term

Corvallis, Ore. – Five Oregon State athletics teams topped the 3.0 mark for the Fall 2009 academic term, led by volleyball with a 3.38 GPA. Eighteen student-athletes earned straight A’s for the term, while 210 earned at least a 3.0 average.
Women’s crew came in second with a 3.23 GPA. Only one-hundredth of a point separated the next three teams with women’s cross country posting a 3.14, softball earning a 3.13 and women’s swimming had a 3.12. Women’s golf rounded out the five with a 3.09 GPA.
Oregon State had 40 fall sport athletes named to Pac-10 All-Academic teams compiled from football, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball and women’s cross country.
As a whole, 11 of the 16 sports teams boast a 3.0 or better OSU GPA. And eight student-athletes have a perfect 4.0 GPA, while 231 have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Four other teams fell just below the 3.0 mark in women’s basketball, men’s crew, gymnastics and women’s soccer with a 2.90 or higher.
