Ann Arbor Day 2: Study Day
Nov. 17, 2009
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - After a day of travel and getting acquainted with the new surroundings in Ann Arbor, Mich., the team got in some good study time as well as a guided tour of the University of Michigan athletic facilities.
After a late breakfast and a failed attempt to use the Michigan academic center due to an inability to connect online, the team held up in a conference room at the Holiday Inn Express next to our hotel for a few hours of focused study time. The team has been studying individually during the entire trip but it was a good chance to all focus on the getting ready for midterms and writing papers.
Following the study session it was on your own for lunch with people going to the mall food court, California Pizza Kitchen, Chipotle, Olive Garden, or Bennigan's.
Early in the afternoon, a large group took a tour of the Michigan athletic facilities. Tour guide Bill started the team off at the indoor track facility before moving to the home of the Michigan swimming and diving programs as well as Olympian Michael Phelps.
The facility that most of the team wanted to see was the football stadium, "The Big House." After standing at the base of the massive building you understand why it got its nickname. The final stop on the tour was the basketball arena where, lining the concourse walls, there are tributes to the greats of both past and present.
Dinner tonight was a little more special considering that the team broke out into "happy birthday" for freshman Bailey Hewitt, whose birthday is today.
Tomorrow the team gets back out on the pitch for two hours of training in preparation for No. 2 seeded Notre Dame Friday night at 4:30 pm PST in South Bend. Ind.
Check back tomorrow night for a practice report and a recap of the day's activities.
Live video will be available for Friday's match.
