CORVALLIS, Ore. –
Junior forward Chelsea Buckland has been named the Bank of the West Pac-12 Player of the Week for Oct. 17-24, commissioner Larry Scott announced today. This is the second conference honor that Buckland has received this season.

Buckland was also named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer Honor Roll team for her performance this past weekend. This is her fifth total honor for the 2011 season and the third time that Buckland has been nationally honored.

Buckland was an integral part of the Beavers 2-0 weekend against the Washington schools during a Pac-12 conference weekend that saw the Beavers score six goals in two games.

First off for the Beavers, they played nationally ranked opponent Washington State on Friday. Buckland scored the game winning goal. After a free-kick was taken by Justyne Freud from about 50-yards out, Buckland received the ball in the 18-yard box and found the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season.

Buckland wasn’t finished yet, because when the Beavers met the Washington Huskies on Sunday, she helped the team to a 4-1 finish. In the 51st minute, Buckland was awarded a free-kick right outside the 18-yard box. She blasted the shot into the goal to give herself a two-goal weekend and her eighth goal of the season.

Buckland and the Beavers return to action on Friday Oct. 28 when the No. 19 Oregon State women’s soccer team takes on the No. 1 Stanford Cardinal. The game is set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Paul Lorenz Field.
