CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 18 Oregon State women's soccer team hosts the Oregon State Nike Invitational this Friday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 19 at Paul Lorenz Field. The Beavers will take on Butler and San Diego State on respective days. It will also be alumni weekend for both the men and women's soccer teams.

Oregon State (4-0 overall) squares off with Butler (2-4) Friday morning starting at 11:30 a.m. in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Butler comes into the match winning their last two matches. The Bulldogs defeated Miami (Ohio) 5-2 and followed that up with a 1-0 overtime victory against Saint Louis. Only two people have scored this season for Butler. Katie Griswold leads the team with four goals while Rachael Melendez has two on the season.

The Beavers will take on San Diego State in their final match of the tournament Sunday, Sept. 19 starting at 4 p.m. The Aztecs (2-4-2) are coming off of a loss against No. 1 North Carolina by a score of 1-0. They have scored six goals this season by six different players. Their leading shot taker is Megan Jurado though she has yet to find the back of the net this season. The Beavers are 6-1-1 all-time against the Aztecs.

The Beavers remain the only Pacific-10 team to be undefeated going into action this weekend. They lead the nation in goals against average and shutout percentage having shutout their opponents in every match this season. Goalkeeper Colleen Boyd leads the country in goals against average. Senior Courtney Wetzel also made it into the national rankings for assists per game with a mark of 0.75.

Junior Melinda Ingalls is tied for ninth in the Pac-10 for goals with three and is sixth in the conference in goals per game with a mark of 0.75.

The four straight wins to start the season is the best start for the Beavers since the 2004 season when they started with five straight wins.

As always, admission is free for fans for all Oregon State home games. Those attending the match are encouraged to "Help Fight Hunger" by bringing a canned food item to donate to community outreach.
