CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's soccer team announced its seven-game spring exhibition schedule on Tuesday as the Beavers will open the exhibition schedule on April 14 with a double-header.
Oregon State will host a total of four home games this spring season, which will take place on the intermural fields adjacent to Gill Coliseum due to upgrades being made to Paul Lorenz Field. They will face-off against two Pac-12 teams and a women’s professional team, along with four other teams from the northwest.
The Beavers will open up their spring schedule with a doubleheader on April 14 with a game against the University of Oregon at 11 a.m. and a game against Trinity Western at 4 p.m.
On April 21, they will head to Portland, Ore. to take on in-state rival the Portland Pilots at 2 p.m. The following weekend they will return home to take on Humboldt State at 11 a.m. and Southern Oregon at 4 p.m. on April 28.
“I think the games against your local teams will always be a rivalry because you want to show who is a better team, so that is going to be there in those games against Portland and Oregon,” head coach Linus Rhode said. “For me what I want to get out of it, is not so much results, but putting the pieces together for the fall.”
Oregon State will then travel to Seattle, Wash. to face-off against Pac-12 rival the University of Washington on May 5 at 5:30 p.m. The Beavers will close out their spring season with a match against the W-League Vancouver Whitecaps in Bellevue, Wash. at 1 p.m. on May 6.
“Our schedule is a pretty good schedule because we have a couple of Pac-12 teams and we always play Oregon, but Washington is an addition this year,” Rhode said. “I think that the level of competition will be good and it will really test our girls.
I think that some of the weekends that we have two games it will test them for mental toughness and fitness. I think that we will be able to get a lot out of the spring in the sense of being able to analyze the team and see what we need to focus in on for next year.”
Admission is free to the spring games.
The Beavers are coming off of their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. They finished the season 13-5-3 overall and spent the season ranked in the top-25.
