CORVALLIS, Ore. - Fresh off of three victories in a quintet of season-opening races last weekend, the Oregon State women's rowing team will return to the water this Saturday, March 17, again heading to Dexter Lake in Lowell, Ore. to host the Gonzaga Bulldogs beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The Beavers will have seven boats entered in six races, with the teams matching up eights and fours at both the varsity and novice levels.

"This weekend we hope to build on the lessons we learned from last week's racing," Head Coach Emily Ford said. "It is important in these early-season races that we work to apply what we are doing in practice and learn everything we can about where we are and where we need to go from here. Gonzaga is always great competition for us and I'm sure they will challenge us to be our best."

The competition will begin with the novice 8's at 9:00 a.m. and races will begin in roughly 15-minute intervals thereafter. The first varsity 4's will start at 9:15 a.m., followed by the first varsity 8's (9:30 a.m.), the second varsity 8's (9:45 a.m.), the novice 4's (10:00 a.m.) and the second varsity 4's (10:15 a.m.).

OSU will enter both an `A' and `B' boat in the novice 4+ race at 10:00 a.m.

Oregon State and Gonzaga will be racing on Dexter Lake's 2,000-meter course that begins at the covered bridge on the east side of the lake running down two full buoyed lines northwest towards the OAR boathouse for the finish line.

On the same course last weekend, the Beavers won one varsity 8+ race and had first-place finishes in both the varsity and novice 4+ against the University of Victoria, with Oregon State grabbing the lead right away and gradually opening up the margin throughout its victories.

The weather at Dexter Lake on Saturday has temperatures expected to top out at 48 degrees. The forecast also calls for a 60 percent chance of rain with winds reaching 10 to 20 mph.
