Women's Rowing Takes Three Races against Victoria
March 14, 2010
LOWELL, Ore. - The Oregon State's women's rowing varsity 8+, second varsity 8+ and the novice 8+ "A" all started the fall season off strong with victories against the University of Victoria on Saturday at Dexter Lake. "It was a very productive day on the water for us," said head coach Emily Ford. "As a team, we learned a lot from this first race and I believe all boats are walking away with a greater understanding of where we need to focus our energy over the next several weeks of training and racing." In a tight race the OSU 1V8+ crew clenched a close victory, beating Victoria by a 1.63-second margin. The 2V8+ had a more commanding lead throughout the 2,000-meter course, winning by almost 10-seconds. The Varsity 4+ boats fell behind early on and made a strong push in the last half of the race but still fell short. Finally, the Novice 8+ "A" boat started off strong and held on to come out on top with Victoria following by 9.77-seconds. The Beavers will return to action on Saturday, March 20 RESULTS Second Varsity 8+ Varsity 4+ Novice 8+ LINE UPS:
