Getting a Grip with Kera Bolen
Hi Beaver fans!
We officially started our first week of practice, and what an exciting week it was! First and foremost, our four freshman are finally here! We have all been anxious to put the whole team together and start training. It is very refreshing having new and talented faces in the gym! I can already feel the energy and excitement in this team from the first few practices. The new Nike apparel we received on the first day was outstanding! Everyone was pumped to get the new orange and black gear!
Many eventful things have happened since reporting Tuesday including a team dinner at Tanya and Michael's. Dinner was followed by some team bonding where we got to hear interesting stories and learn fun things about each girl on the team. We also kicked off the first meeting about the C.A.R.E. program. This program standing for Communication, Academics, Recovery, and External Networking relations is a way for us to focus all of these dimensions into being the best team we can be in and out of the classroom en route to reaching our gymnastics goals!
We took our team pictures and individual head shots on Thursday! This was eventful in itself. Our team LOVES taking pictures! If we weren't in front of the professional camera we were grouping up off to the side and taking silly and fun pictures. It was a beautiful day outside, as it was all week, so I think the outside shots will turn out really well!
The only test we have completed thus far is the bike test and it was a hard one! I was really proud of everyone on the team that day because you could see the grit and determination on everyone's faces pushing to get the best time they could.
To top off the week we had a nice Saturday morning practice before heading off to witness the first Beaver football home game of the year against Hawai’i. It was nice to see everyone on the team able to make the game as we played so well and got our first win of the year! Sunday is recovery day to rejuvenate our bodies, and for me watching the NFL all day, before getting back in the gym Monday!
Talk with you soon!
