French, Gargaro to Tee Up Near Atlanta

DAHLONEGA, Ga. - Oregon State golfers Whitney French and Kristina Gargaro are set to team up at the first annual Hooters Women's Collegiate Team Championship presented by the National Golf Coaches Association beginning this Tuesday. The tournament is the most unique summertime national women's amateur championship and will be played at the Achasta Golf Course near Atlanta. French, a junior at OSU, and Gargaro, who enters her senior season, will be among 55 two-person teams competing with many of the top current women's collegiate golfers from around the country. Each team will pair players from the same university in a 54-hole stroke play event. The format of the Championship is Day 1 (Aug. 3): Alternate Shot; Day 2 (Aug. 4): Best Ball, and Day 3 (Aug. 5): Aggregate Score of the two players. Teams represent all levels of collegiate golf including 42 Division I, four Division II, six Division III and one NAIA program. Achasta, is located in Dahlonega, Ga., is a par-72 Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course and is an 18-hole, 6,995- yards.
