Oct. 13, 2009
LAS CRUCES, N.M. -
After two rounds at the Price's "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate, the Oregon State women's golf team is tied for 10th place. The Beavers have shot a two-round total of (303-303) 606 on the par 72 - 6,193 yard New Mexico State University Golf Club.
The Price's "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate is a 54-hole, three-day tournament running from Mon., Oct. 12 through Wed., Oct. 14.
The Beavers were led Tuesday by senior Lauren Archer, who fired a 1-over par 73 after she carded an opening round 80 on Monday.
"Lauren (Archer) played better today," head coach Rise Lakowske said. "But the rest of the team played similar to yesterday. We had a great start today and then in the middle had a couple bad holes that shouldn't have happened. At the end we pulled ourselves back together and finished well."
San Diego State's Christine Wong took sole control of the tournament lead Tuesday with a two-day total of (69-68) 137 leaving her five strokes ahead of Baylor's Hannah Burke. As a team, Idaho moved into the lead at (296-287) 583, while Oregon State tallied the same score as yesterday to sit at (303-303) 606, 23 strokes behind the Vandals.
"We'll have to play better tomorrow and really need to minimize the damage when we find trouble in order to move up tomorrow," Lakowske said.
The Beavers resume play Wednesday at 8 a.m. for the final round of play.
