Women's Basketball Ends Road Trip Sunday At Houston Baptist

Raquel Jones leads the Huskies in scoring with 28 points per game after playing against Huston-Tillotson on Wednesday night. He is three wins shy of 100 career college victories. After hosting Oregon State, Houston Baptist brings in McNeese State on Tuesday and Tennessee-Martin on Wednesday. The Huskies are in the first year as a member of the Great West Conference, which features, among other teams, Utah Valley, Chicago State and UT-Pan American. With the loss, the Beavers dropped to 1-1 on the year while Houston, which had its home opener Thursday night, improved to 3-0. Brittany Kennedy and Kirsten Tilleman tied for the team lead in points for the Beavers, both finishing with eight. All of Tilleman's eight points came in the second half. Tilleman also led the Beavers with eight rebounds, equaling her total from Oregon State's season-opening win over Cal Poly. All told, the Beavers grabbed 42 boards compared to Houston's 46. Both teams shot less than 35 percent from the field. OSU finished the game at a 27.3 clip from the field, while Houston posted a 32.8 percent mark. OSU had nine steals and two blocks while Houston finished with 11 steals and five blocks. The five rebounds per game puts Palmer third on the team behind Kirsten Tilleman (8.0) and Julie Futch (5.5). Against Houston Sunday, Tilleman scored all of her eight points in the second half. She is currently shooting at a .632 clip this season. Since those games, the Beavers have gone 15-5 in non-conference games, including a 13-2 mark in non-conference games played during the regular season.
