Meet The Beavers: Mollee Schwegler
Nov. 16, 2012
Fresh off one of its most successful seasons in the last two decades, the Oregon State women's basketball team enters this year having changed perceptions both inside and outside the program. Last year's team won 20 games for only the second time in the previous 17 seasons, set school records for rebounds and blocked shots, scored the second-most points in program history and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the WNIT. No Beaver squad has had a better postseason run since the 1996 team advanced to the NCAA Tournament. With the season already underway, osubeavers.com will be wrapping up its video features on each player as the Beavers take the court in 2012. Next up is Mollee Schwegler, a senior guard from Rainier, Oregon. Schwegler arrived in Corvallis last season by way of Lower Columbia College, where she put together a sterling two-year career. The guard finished her time there as the school's all-time leading scorer with 915 points and guided her team to a 40-16 record, including an astounding 30-2 mark in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) play. She was the unanimous NWAACC West Region MVP and added an impressive 5.9 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game to her stellar scoring average (16.8). The current senior has earned her first two starts at OSU in the Beavers' first two games this season, putting up seven points against Cal Poly last Monday. In 2011-12, Schwegler had a breakout performance at Washington on Feb. 12, scoring a career-high 15 points in 15 minutes, including 4-for-6 from three-point range.
