Aug. 30, 2011
Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State women’s basketball program is pleased to release its 2011-12 schedule, highlighted by 15 home games, including nine conference contests, in the first year of the Pac-12 Conference, announced Tuesday by head coach Scott Rueck. After beginning practice on Monday, Oct. 3, the Beavers open their 2011-12 campaign with a five-game homestand in legendary Gill Coliseum, facing Pacific University (Ore.) on Tuesday, Nov. 8 before Western Oregon (Nov. 11), Montana State (Nov. 13), Cal State Northridge (Nov. 17) and Southern Utah (Nov. 20). A single road game to Eastern Washington (Nov. 22) preempts a two-game tournament at Rice, where Oregon State could take on Texas A&M Corpus Christi or North Texas on Dec. 2 before matching up with the host team the following day. Four more games ensue with a pair in California at Pepperdine (Dec. 10) and CSU Bakersfield (Dec.1) before wrapping up the non-conference slate at home against Corban (Dec. 16) and St. Mary’s (Dec. 19). The Pac-12 season begins at home with the Washington schools, hosting Washington on Dec. 29 before a New Years Eve affair with Washington State. A trip to the Bay Area, followed by the Arizona schools before the only match-up with the Los Angeles schools on the road is capped by the first Civil War competition, presented by Northwest Ford Dealers and PacificSource Health Plans to wrap up January. February allows the Beavers to get their first taste of Colorado (Feb. 2) and Utah (Feb. 4) with the second round of play against the Washington and Arizona schools and Civil War at Matthew Knight Arena. Another weekend of play against Utah and Colorado and the Pacific Life Pac-12 Tournament, split between USC’s Galen Center and Staples Center complete the Beavers’ schedule. Oregon State returns six players from last year, including four starters in senior Earlysia Marchbanks (Salem, Ore.), junior Sage Indendi (Livingston, Mont.) and sophomores Alexis Bostick (Oakland, Calif.) and Alyssa Martin (Portland, Ore.). The team welcomes six newcomers in the form of five junior college transfers (Patricia Bright, ShaKiana Edwards-Teasley, Quortni Fambro, Thais Pinto and Mollee Schwegler) and freshman Ali Gibson (Woodridge, Calif.). The game dates are subject to change and game times will be announced at a later date when the television schedules are announced.
