CORVALLIS, Ore. -The Oregon State women's basketball team will add some international flavor to its non-conference schedule in 2012-13 when the Beavers travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico over the Thanksgiving holiday to participate in the first-ever Hardwood Tournament of Hope from Nov. 20-22.

OSU will be joined in the three-day, three-game event by UC Santa Barbara, Central Florida, Gonzaga, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri State and Winthrop. All match-ups will be played at the new state-of-the-art Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center.

The tournament, being held in the world-famous resort city on the Pacific Ocean's Bahía de Banderas, will be the Beavers' first international trip since 2008 when they traveled to Freeport, Grand Bahamas for the Junkanoo Jam, which featured games against Arkansas (W, 69-56) and North Carolina (L, 82-78). Oregon State's only other journey outside the 50 U.S. states occurred in 2004 when it played in the Paradise Jam on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. OSU lost games against Kentucky (73-70) and Rutgers (77-53) before defeating South Dakota State, 68-65.

Oregon State opens the event with a game against 2012 NCAA Tournament participant UCSB on Nov. 20 followed by a meeting with either Mississippi State or Winthrop on the 21st. OSU's third, and final, game in Mexico will be against Louisville, Central Florida, Gonzaga or Winthrop on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 22.

The Beavers and Gauchos have met five times previously, with UCSB owning a 4-1 edge in the series. OSU's last win came in a 91-63 triumph in Corvallis in 1993. Oregon State won its only-ever meeting against Mississippi State, 72-69, in 1985 and is 2-0 all-time against Gonzaga, defeating the Bulldogs most recently in 2004, 69-64. OSU took on the Bears in both 2003 (W, 49-42) and 2004 (L, 71-69) when the school was known as Southwest Missouri State. The Beavers have never played Central Florida, Louisville or Winthrop.

The tournament, organized by Plan BC3, LLC, will use proceeds to raise awareness, support and research for the National Urea Cycle Disorder Foundation to "Cure UCD". Tournament resorts will be at the newly renovated Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta and the newly opened Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta. Fans interested in traveling to the Mexico for the Harwood Tournament of Hope need to purchase a fan package, which includes lodging, ground transportation and game tickets, at www.planbc3.com or by phone at 314-757-7554.

The remainder of Oregon State's 2012-13 schedule will be released in early September.
