Corvallis, Ore. (AP) – Junior Sage Indendi (Livingston, Mont.) had 11 points and five rebounds to lead the Oregon State women’s basketball team (11-5, 2-3 Pac-12) to a 56-51 win over Arizona State (10-5, 1-3 Pac-12), snapping an 18-game series winning streak, on Thursday evening in front of a crowd of 1,120 in Gill Coliseum.

Senior Earlysia Marchbanks (Salem, Ore.) added 10 points and seven rebounds, and sophomore Alexis Bostick (Oakland, Calif.) added nine points for the Beavers.

“Arizona State is a great team,” head coach Scott Rueck said. “They’ve been in the top three in the conference for the last seven years. Last year we went toe-to-toe with this team three times, and we came up short in the last minute. It feels so good to get over that hurdle against this team and be the team that makes the plays down the stretch. I’m so happy for Earlysia [Marchbanks] for making the big free throws to ice this game and to put this team on her back.”

Freshman Ali Gibson’s (Woodbridge, Calif.) three-pointer with 8:06 left capped a 14-2 Oregon State run that put the Beavers ahead 47-44. It was Oregon State’s first lead since the first eight minutes of the game.

Arizona State tied the game twice from there but didn’t take the lead again. Sophomore Alyssa Martin’s (Portland, Ore.) three-pointer with 7:04 left gave the Beavers the lead for good at 50-47.

The Sun Devils were down three points with the ball in the closing minute, but Deja Mann was called for an offensive foul after pushing off on Bostick at the top of the arc to mark Arizona State’s 16th turnover of the game, ninth in the second half.

Oregon State started the game off fast, with junior Patricia Bright (Phoenix, Ariz.) scoring six points for an 8-2 lead, its largest of the game.

Janae Fulcher scored the last four points of an 11-3 first half run that gave Arizona State a 16-12 lead.

Arizona State didn’t trail again in the half and led 35-30 at halftime.

Jada Blackwell and Kali Bennett had 11 points apiece for Arizona State.

Oregon State hosts Arizona next on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for its Fill Gill game. Admission is only $1, and fans are encouraged to show up early to ensure admittance into the game by tip-off.
