Beavers Open Home Slate> Oregon State opens its 2010-11 home slate at legendary Gill Coliseum Saturday night against Simon Fraser. The meet is scheduled for a 7 p.m. PT start.
Media> Live stats and live video will be available for the matchup with Simon Fraser. Both services are free and can be accessed by visiting osubeavers.com.
Strong At Home> Oregon has been particularly strong in home openers, and went 1-1 last season, defeating No. 13 Wisconsin and losing to No. 8 Boise State. All-time, the Beavers are 45-10-1 on home-opening dates dating back to 1955.
Still Undefeated> Most of the Oregon State regulars have tallied four bouts thus far, and Chad Hanke and Brice Arand have stood out at this point as each is 4-0 on the year. They represent the only OSU wrestlers with those records. Together, they have combined for 34 individual points this season, and have accounted for three falls and one major decision. Their three falls represent half the team’s total, with Jason Lara, Kelly Kubec and Scott Sakaguchi accounting for one apiece.
Against The Top 25> Oregon State has already posted a strong start to the season against top 25 squads, going 1-0-1 after a win over then-No. 11 Missouri on Sunday. The Beavers built up their strong record last season (18-3) on the basis of a 3-3 record against top 25 teams. OSU will not see a top 25 team this week, but faces No. 14 Nebraska in two weeks.
Versus Their Canadian Counterparts> Oregon State and Simon Fraser will be competing for the 22nd time on Saturday, and the Beavers have dominated the series, going 20-1. OSU won last year, 47-0, after the Beavers collected four falls.
Rankings> Oregon State jumped up to No. 13 in the NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll that was released Tuesday. OSU had been No. 17 the week prior. Oregon State had started the year No. 22 in the rankings.
