Men's Soccer Lands Five on Pac-10 Academic Teams

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State sophomore John Swenson earned Pac-10 All-Academic First Team honors while Colin Mitchell, Mike Parker, and Justin Woodward earned second team honors and Chris Harms was an honorable mention it was announced by Commissioner Larry Scott. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. Swenson, a sophomore from Langlois, Ore., participated in all 18 matches this season, staring 11, racking up five total points with two goals and one assist. He is majoring in exercise and sports science and has a 3.95 GPA. Woodward, a senior from Corvallis, Ore., makes his third appearance on the second team list, every year in which he has been eligible. He is majoring in accountancy and will be graduating later this year. He has been a vital contributor over the past few years on defense. Parker, a sophomore from Milwaukie, Ore., participated in 15 games this season and started in six while tallying two assists on the season. He is majoring in business administration. Mitchell, a native of San Francisco, Calif., was the second leading scorer on the team this season with five goals and also had two assists. He is majoring in exploratory studies and has a 3.50 GPA. Harms was named as an honorable mention and played and started in 17 games this season.
