CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State men's soccer team begins the second half of the Pacific-10 Conference schedule with road games against California and Stanford this weekend.

The Beavers (6-6-0, 1-4-0 Pac-10) will play the Golden Bears on Friday at 2 p.m. and the Cardinal on Sunday at 1 p.m.

"We're excited to begin the second half of the Pac-10 schedule," Oregon State head coach Steve Simmons said. "I know the players are eager to get back on the field to display a proper representation of themselves. There is still much to play for and they have working hard to prepare. The Bar Area trip will be another tremendous challenge for this group."

California (9-2-3, 5-1-1) sits atop the Pac-10 and is ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA poll. The Golden Bears played to a 1-1 draw against San Diego State last weekend, their sixth double-overtime match of the season. They bounced back two days later to defeat UCLA 1-0 in overtime to hold a one-point lead over the Bruins in the Pac-10 standings.

Stanford (7-8-0, 3-4-0) and Oregon State battled on Oct. 10 at Paul Lorenz Field in Corvallis in a match that the Cardinal won in the 106th minute in double-overtime, 1-0. Stanford is coming off 1-0 losses to both UCLA and San Diego State.

The Beavers have had two weeks off since their last match against Washington on Oct. 15. Seniors Brian Ramsey and Travis Sanchez continue to lead the Beavers with five goals and 12 points on the season to rank fifth and seventh, respectively, in the Pac-10. Junior goalkeeper Steve Spangler is second in the conference with 56 saves and 4.67 saves per game.
