May 11, 2010
Former Oregon State standout Robbie Findley has been named to the 30-man preliminary U.S. National Team World Cup roster it was announced Tuesday by team head coach Bob Bradley. From this list, a squad of 23 players must be chosen by June 1 for the final roster that will travel to South Africa.
Findley played from 2002-05 for Oregon State before going pro. He started his career for the LA Galaxy before moving to Real Salt Lake where last year he beat his former team in the Galaxy for the MLS Cup.
"We're extremely proud of Robbie in his selection to the 30-Man US World Cup roster. Coming off a MLS Cup title and to be considered to represent your country in the world's greatest event are tremendous accomplishments. It really says a lot about the OSU Men's Soccer program and the people who have been a part of it."
Findley has played in every game this season for Real Salt Lake but is still looking for his first goal of the season but it tied for first on the squad with two assists.
The final travel roster for the U.S. National Team will be made June 1 just 12 days before the US squares off with England in the first match of the Group C pool play. The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa runs June 11 - July 11.
