Men's Rowing Hosts Gonzaga at Dexter Lake
March 19, 2010
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s rowing team is back in action again this weekend, taking on the Gonzaga Bulldogs in a home regatta on Saturday, March 20, at Dexter Lake.
“Returning to Dexter Lake this weekend is exciting. We learned a lot last week and even with finals this week the guys have made progress and improved their boat speed,” men’s rowing head coach Steve Todd said.
Last year Gonzaga finished just behind Oregon State’s varsity 8+ boat at the national meet, so Todd anticipates “a great race.”
The Beavers will have four crews race at Dexter Lake on Saturday, with the V8+ crew being led by junior coxswain Stefan Evano, along with co-captions senior Bronson Shafer and junior Rob Hannah.
In addition to the V8+ crew, Oregon State will be bringing a junior varsity 8+ and two freshman 8+ crews. The races are set to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Dexter Lake in Lowell, Ore. with temperatures around 42 degrees.
