Men's Rowing Takes Three of Four Races from Victoria
March 13, 2010
Lowell, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s crew team took on the University of Victoria on Saturday, March 13, at Dexter Lake as the Beavers won three of the four events of the day.
In the varsity 8+ race, Victoria took an early lead. Oregon State was able to counter their speed and make it a close race, coming within a mere 3.34 seconds of the winning Vikes.
“It was a solid race for us, just not enough to come away with a win,” head coach Steve Todd said.
Oregon State’s junior varsity 8+, freshman 8+, and the freshman “A” 4+ crews each came away with victories. The Freshman “B” 4+ crew also raced. The freshman 8+ crew came away from the weekend with an 8.41 second victory over Victoria, and they were able to gain experience while getting their first race out of the way.
We had a great day and the guys performed well. They raced how we’ve been training and the weather held out for the morning. Overall, it was a good start to the season,” Todd said.
