Oregon State Men's Rowers Head to Boston for Head of the Charles

Beavers make farthest fall trip in recent memory and their second trek to Beantown in as many years

Richard Montgomery is in his third season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Oregon State men's rowing team.

Montgomery comes to Oregon State after a standout rowing career as the Cornell University graduate was a four-time member of the United State Rowing National Team. From 2004-07, Montgomery rowed with the national team as he captured a silver medal in the light doubles at the 2007 Pan American Games.

In addition, Montgomery is a three-time champion in the light single event at the famous Head of the Charles regatta and raced to a second-place finish at the 2004 United States Olympic Trials.

Montgomery graduated from Cornell in 2000 and served as the captain his senior season as he won the 2000 IRA Championship in the varsity pair race.

Prior to Oregon State, Montgomery has served as a volunteer assistant coach with Boston University (2002-03) and Pennsylvania (2006).
