Madsen Ties For 17th At World Amateur Team Championship

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA - Oregon State junior Morten Madsen shot a 74 in the final round to finish tied for 17th with a 6-over 221 (72-75-74) at the World Amateur Team Championship. Madsen helped lead Denmark to a second place finish in the 70-team field with a 3-under 427 (139-141-147) to finish four strokes behind France, which won the Eisenhower Trophy, and one stroke ahead of the United States. Madsen began the third round on Saturday in a tie for 34th place before play was halted due to inclement weather. He battled heavy wind on Sunday to finish with one of the better final rounds with a 2-over 74 to move up to a tie for 17th overall. Joachim Hansen of Denmark claimed medalist honors with a 6-under 209, while Madsen's other teammate, Lucas Bjerregaard, finished in a tie for 15th place overall.
