Beavers Finish Fourth, Moore Ties For Second At Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon State men's golf team finished in fourth place and junior Alex Moore tied for second, the day after his record-setting round, at the Oregon Duck Invitational on Tuesday.

The Beavers shot a 9-over 297 on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,020-yard Eugene Country Club and held their fourth place position from the opening two rounds with a 14-over 298-283-297--878.

Moore, who had the lowest individual round in Oregon State history with a 9-under 63 on Monday, shot a 1-over 73 on Tuesday that included two birdies and three bogies. He had a 7-under 73-63-73--209 in the two-day, 54-hole tournament and finished two strokes behind Chris Williams of Washington, who had a 9-under 67-71-69--207, and tied with Michael Whitehead of Rice, who had a 7-under 72-71-66-209.

Sophomore Nick Sherwood tied for 26th with a 3-over 74-69-76--219 and freshman David Fink bounced back with a 1-over 73 on Tuesday to finish tied for 63rd with a 14-over 76-81-73--230. Junior Casey King was consistent throughout the tournament with a 7-over 75-73-75--223 for a tie for 42nd, while sophomore Jeff Petroff finished tied for 77th with an 18-over 80-78-76--234.

Junior Jonnie Motomochi finished tied for 37th with a 6-over 74-73-76--222 and freshman Travis Milleman was 80th with a 19-over 78-81-76--235 as both players competed as individuals.

Top-ranked Oklahoma State ran away with the team title with a 16-under 848 to finish ahead of host Oregon at 8-under 856 and Washington at 6-over 870.

The Beavers, who have five Top 5 finishes in eight events this season, return to action April 4-5 at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
