OSU President Ed Ray Selected to Prestigious NCAA Posts

Ed Ray, president, Oregon State University, has been elected chair of the NCAA Executive Committee, the organization announced today. Ray was formerly chair of the NCAA Executive Committee Finance Committee and NCAA Executive Committee Finance Committee Investment Subcommittee and a member of the Executive Committee. In his new role, it was also announced today, Ray will serve as chair of the search committee for a new NCAA president to replace the late Myles Brand, who passed away last month. Ray’s colleagues on the committee include: University of Nebraska-Lincoln President Harvey Perlman, who will become chair of the Division I Board of Directors in April; Weber State University President Ann Milner, chair of the Presidents Advisory Group; Molloy College President Drew Bogner, who will become chair of the Division II Presidents Council in January; Widener University President Jim Harris, who will assume chair of the Division III Presidents Council in January; and Hampton University President Bill Harvey, Executive Committee member. “This is an honor for President Ray and affirmation of his leadership in higher education and intercollegiate athletics,” OSU Athletic Director Bob DeCarolis said. “I am confident in his leadership of the association, and also know that he had a personal relationship with Myles Brand and will mindfully guide the process of finding a new president.”
