Justin Kahut on Groza Award List
Aug. 20, 2010
Corvallis, Ore. -
Oregon State University senior Justin Kahut (K-hoot) has been selected as a preseason member of the 19th annual Lou Groza Award, presented by the Orange Bowl Committee to the nation’s premier placekicker.
Kahut is attempting to duplicate what his predecessor Alexis Serna accomplished in 2005 by accepting the national award at the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show in Orlando in December. Kahut earned Pac-10 Conference Second Team honors last season and enters the year with a .750 (39-52) career field goal percentage. The Clackamas, Ore., native was named Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week twice last season after making four field goals against UCLA and Oregon. Kahut, who will graduate in December with a degree in construction engineering management, is seventh for career scoring at OSU with 201 points.
Oregon State, ranked No. 22 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, opens the season against No. 7 TCU in the Cowboys Classic from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game will be televised live by ESPN.
