Wells Fargo Joins Civil War Series Team
Aug. 15, 2012
Corvallis, Ore. -
Three strong teams and one four-year agreement will add up to increased support for the community and a marketing touchdown.
Wells Fargo has signed a new contract with University of Oregon and Oregon State University to become a presenting partner of their Civil War Series.
The agreement includes creating a Catch the Community Spirit campaign. University students, staff and fans will join Wells Fargo employees to volunteer for a number of projects to help communities throughout Oregon, including Habitat for Humanity home builds and a winter holiday toy drive.
The community projects will be highlighted on video screens during both universities’ home football and basketball games. Fans will be encouraged to join the schools and Wells Fargo in volunteering, according to a joint announcement today by Directors of Athletics Bob De Carolis (OSU) and Rob Mullens (UO).
The agreement was reached in conjunction with Beaver Sports Properties and the Oregon IMG Sports Marketing.
The marketing partnership is also intended to increase the regional exposure for the intrastate rivalry, which originated with the first football game between the two institutions in 1894, as well as generate additional revenue for the two athletic departments.
The two universities and Wells Fargo will jointly market their brands throughout the region. The parties are not disclosing the financial terms of the agreement.
“Oregon is lucky to have two universities that operate such high caliber sports programs that excel at the national level. Many of our team members and customers in this region are alumni of U of O or OSU, or are huge fans of their teams,” said Don Pearson, Wells Fargo regional president for Oregon and southwest Washington. “This agreement links three superstar brands. Together, we will work together to make our Oregon communities the long-term winners.”
Serving Oregon since 1852, Wells Fargo is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year. The financial services company has 129 branches in Oregon and southwest Washington. In the past three years, Wells Fargo team members have volunteered more than 216,000 hours for schools and nonprofit groups in this region.
PacificSource Health Plans and the Northwest Ford Dealers are also presenting partners for the schools’ Civil War series.
PacificSource Health Plans is in its third year as a partner and provides all Oregonians resources to better manage their health, and provide a platform to compete as individuals or teams in activities that promote exercise, healthy nutrition and tobacco cessation. Through the initiative, PacificSource Health Plans provides funding to both universities’ campus wellness initiatives to assist the schools in meeting their health improvement goals.
