Corvallis, Ore. -

Former Oregon State University starting quarterback Matt Moore is featured on the August 2 cover of The Sporting News Digital Daily.

Moore transferred to Oregon State prior to the 2005 season from the College of the Canyons in California after a two-year career at UCLA.  Moore fit right into head coach Mike Riley's pro style offense passing for 5,733 yards in two years.  He culminated his career by being named the 2006 Sun Bowl MVP after accounting for five touchdowns in a thrilling 39-38 win over Missouri.

Moore's last season resulted in him being selected Pac-10 Conference Honorable Mention and signing a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys. He was waived by the Cowboys in the final roster cutdown and promptly claimed by the Carolina Panthers.  Moore went to the Panthers largely as a third string quarterback, but a plethora of injuries led him to start three games in December and he was named the NFL's Rookie of the Month.

Since 2007, Moore has continually climbed the depth chart and enters the 2010 season as the projected starter.  You can read more about the prospects about this former Beaver here in the Sporting News Daily, the world's only digital daily.
