Gwacham Reaches Provisional Height

SEATTLE, Wash. - Seven Oregon State football student-athletes competed at the UW Last Chance meet Saturday in the 60-meter dash and the high jump events.
Freshman Obum Gwacham led the way in the men's high jump with a height of 7' 1 1/2'. He became the ninth Beaver to clear 7'0" two weeks after Jordan Bishop became the eight with his jump of 7' 1/2." Gwacham's height was good enough for a provisional bid to the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Bishop came in third with a height of 6'11 3/4" which is the second best of his career..
Freshman Markus Wheaton, making his track debut, finished second overall in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.82. That time is the best put up by any football student-athlete this year. He qualified for the finals with a prelims time of 6.96 after winning his heat.
Sophomore Keynan Parker finished third overall in the 60-meter finals with a time of 6.86 after he won the opening preliminary heat of the day with a time of 6.91.
Junior James Rodgers also qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash with a time of J7:05. He finished second overall following the prelims and finished fifth overall after the finals with a time of 7.00.
"Overall it was a great day," Sullivan said. "It was nice to see Jacquizz (Rodgers) out here competing for the first time in almost three years and for Marcus Wheaton to put up the time that he did was just great."
