UPDATE: Stephen Paea Live on the Jim Rome Show Tuesday after Combine Record Performance
Feb. 27, 2011 Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State senior defensive tackle Stephen Paea will be a guest on the Jim Rome Show Tuesday at 11 a.m. PST after he broke the bench press record at Sunday's NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Paea benched 225 pounds 49 times, four more than the previous record (video here). The projected NFL first round draft selection in April, Paea was the 2010 Pac-10 Conference's Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year and for the second straight season was the recipient of the Pac-10 Conference's Morris Trophy as selected by the league's opposing offensive linemen. The All-American was invited to the Senior Bowl, but hurt his knee in practice for the all-star game and was unable to play. Paea ended his three-year collegiate career with 45 tackles, including 10-for-loss and six quarterback sacks last season. Three Beavers are participating in the NFL Combine with Paea being joined by offensive center Alex Linnenkohl and All-American running back Jacquizz Rodgers.
