Corvallis, Ore. -
“Touchdown Beavers.” “The Beavers are the National Champions.”
Oregon State University Athletics is proud to announce that the “voice of the Beavers” Mike Parker has been named for the fifth time the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Oregon Broadcaster of the Year.
"I’m honored to be recognized by my peers and continue to be thankful to have the opportunity to call football, basketball and baseball games for the Beavers,” Parker said. “As a kid that's all I dreamed about doing and to get to live out that dream at Oregon State is really special."
Parker has been behind the microphone for some Oregon State’s top athletic moments in school history. He has announced to “Beaver Nation” two baseball national championships, eight bowl games and served as the master of ceremonies at numerous events. He also currently serves as the play-by-play voice of the Corvallis Knights of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League.
Parker, who last won this prestigious award in 2006, is a 1982 graduate of the University of Oregon. His broadcasting experience also includes hosting the post-game radio show for the Portland Trail Blazers, the play-by-play voice of the Portland Beavers and hosting several other talk shows in the Portland, Ore., market.
You can listen to Parker Thursday night over the Beaver Sports Network when the men’s basketball team hosts the Stanford Cardinal at 7 p.m. from legendary Gill Coliseum.
