Oregon State enters the contest with a mark of 1-2 on the season following play at the Duel in the Desert tournament in Lubbock, Texas, last week. The Beavers defeated South Dakota while falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas Tech.

Seth Tarver led Oregon State at the tournament as the senior forward earned all-tournament honors after averaging 11.7 points and 5.3 rebounds through the three games.

Senior Roeland Schaftenaar enters the weekend as the only other Oregon State player in double figures as the center averages 10.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest.

Oregon State shots 42.6 percent from the floor at the tournament while holding opponents to just 40.4 percent from the field.

Sacramento State enters the contest with a mark of 2-2 on the season after a 90-75 victory over Bethany on Wednesday night. John Dickson leads Sacramento State with 12.3 points per contest while the Hornets are shooting 43.1 percent from the floor while holding opponents to 44.1 percent from the field.

The contest marks the sixth meeting between the two programs as Oregon State leads the all-time series, 5-0, with the last meeting coming during the 2004-05 season, a 90-79 Beavers win.

SCOUTING SACRAMENTO STATE

Sacramento State, led by second-year head coach Brian Katz, enters the weekend with a mark of 2-2 on the season after the Hornets cruised to a 90-75 victory over Bethel. Sultan Toles-Bay led Sacramento State in the victory with 17 points.

The Hornets, who own wins over Bethel and Houston Baptist this season, are currently shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 29.7 percent from behind the three-point line. Sacramento State is holding opponents to 44.1 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from behind the arc.

OREGON STATE TO HONOR 2009 CBI CHAMPS AT HOME OPENER

During the first timeout of the Oregon State - Sacramento State contest, the Oregon State Athletics Department will take a moment to recognize the 2009 College Basketball Invitational champions.

Oregon State culminated the 2008-09 season with the Beavers beating all odds to capture the College Basketball Invitational title with a game three victory over UTEP on April 3, 2009.

The title marked the first postseason championship in program history and one of the most remarkable turnarounds in collegiate men’s basketball. After a losing campaign during the 2007-08 season, Oregon State finished the year as one of the most improved teams in college basketball as the Beavers won 12 more games than the previous season, ranking the Beavers behind Missouri (+15) and LSU (+14) as the most improved teams this past year.

The appearance by the Beavers in the CBI marked the 21st postseason appearance in school history for Oregon State as the championship run was highlighted by back-to-back overtime victories over Vermont and Stanford and concluded with a thrilling 81-73 victory over UTEP.

Seth Tarver EARNS ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS AT DUEL IN THE DESERT

Senior forward Seth Tarver led the Oregon State attack at the “Duel in the Desert” tournament and was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 11.7 points and 5.3 rebounds through the three games.

Tarver also collected eight steals throughout the tournament and tied his career-high with five in the loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

OREGON STATE’S QUEST FOR SCHOOL VICTORY NUMBER 1600 UNDERWAY

After a victory at the Duel in the Desert tournament, Oregon State stands just five wins shy of a historic milestone as the Beavers have compiled a mark of 1,595-1,182 over the years. During that span, Oregon State has captured 21 conference titles, including five Pac-10 Conference crowns, and has made 16 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship appearances.

Oregon State, the 15th winningest program in men’s college basketball history, stand five wins shy of its 1,600th victory. Only 14 programs have reached the historic milestone as Western Kentucky was the last program to accomplish the feat, surpassing 1,600 wins last season.

In addition to the historic program total, head coach Craig Robinson stands one win shy of a milestone as the second-year Oregon State head coach has 49 victories for his career.

UP NEXT...

Oregon State takes to the road for the second time this season as the Beavers travel to Washington, D.C., to face George Washington on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11:00 a.m.
