WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State sophomore guard Jared Cunningham was named to the All-Pac-10 Second Team and the All-Defensive Team as selected by a vote of the 10 conference coaches, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

Cunningham is averaging 13.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game and has led the Beavers in scoring 12 times this season. He also leads the Pac-10 and is eighth in the nation in steals at 2.8 per game. His 77 steals thus far this season is the fourth-highest single-season total in Oregon State history and he broke Gary Payton's sophomore steals record of 72 set in 1987-88.

The sophomore guard also set Oregon State records with most consecutive free throws made (34, tied with Vince Fritz) and most free throws made in a game without a miss (15). He tied the school record of steals in a game last season with eight against Washington State (tied with Brent Barry and Seth Tarver).

Cunningham is the 42nd Oregon State player to earn All-Conference honors. The Pac-10 All-Defensive Team was first announced in 2007-08 and Cunningham joins Seth Tarver as Oregon State players to be selected.

In other Pac-10 honors, Derrick Williams of Arizona was named Men's Basketball Player of the Year, California's Allen Crabbe was named Freshman of the Year, Marcus Simmons of USC was named Defensive Player of the Year, Washington's Matthew Bryan-Amaning was Most Improved Player of the Year and Sean Miller of Arizona was selected the Coach of the Year.

Oregon State opens the Pac-10 Tournament at 6 p.m. on Wednesday against Stanford at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. The Beavers are the No. 9 seed and Stanford is the No. 8 seed and the game will be televised nationally on FSN.
