Men's Hoops To Play Stanford In Pac-10 Tournament

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State men's basketball team will play the Stanford Cardinal at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9 in the Pac-10 Tournament at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., in a game televised nationally on FSN. The Beavers are the No. 9 seed and Stanford is the No. 8 seed.

The teams split the series this season with the Beavers (10-19, 5-13 Pac-10) winning 87-80 on Feb. 24 at Gill Coliseum and Stanford (15-15, 7-11 Pac-10) winning 70-56 on Jan. 29 at Maples Pavilion. Oregon State holds a 70-62 advantage in the series and the teams are 4-4 over the last eight games.

Oregon State and Stanford have played one time previously in the Pac-10 Tournament with the Cardinal winning 62-54 on March 11, 2009. The Beavers were the No. 8 seed and Stanford was the No. 9 seed in that game.

The winner of this year's first round game will play the No. 1 seed Arizona Wildcats on Thursday, March 10 at 2:30 p.m. on FSN.

Pac-10 Tournament Notes:
• Oregon State is 5-11 in tournament games and Stanford is 12-12 with a conference title in 2004.
• The Beavers last win in the tournament was a 71-68 victory over Arizona State on March 8, 2006.
• The No. 9 seed is 4-5 vs. the No. 8 seed all-time in tournament games.
• The No. 9 seed is 4-9 all-time in tournament games.
• Gary Payton is the lone Oregon State player to be named to the All-Tournament team (1988 and 1989).
• The Pac-10 Tournament was played from 1987 to 1990 and returned in 2002 after an 11-year absence.
• Charlie White, who played at Oregon State from 1965-66, will be inducted into the Pac-10 Hall of Honor during the tournament.
