STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Freshman Ahmad Starks had a career-high 17 points and Oregon State came back from an 11-point first half deficit to take a lead, but Stanford pulled away to win 70-56.

The Beavers (8-12, 3-6 Pac-10) fell behind 13-2 but rallied back to take a 30-27 lead on two free throws by senior Lathen Wallace. Stanford (11-9, 4-5 Pac-10) scored the final four points of the half to take a 31-30 lead at the break.

Senior Omari Johnson had a team-high seven rebounds and has led or tied for the team lead in rebounding 13 times this season. Wallace had a season-high six rebounds and freshman Devon Collier tied a career-high with three steals.

Freshman Anthony Brown scored a season-high 21 points, helping Stanford avoid its longest losing streak in 18 years.

Josh Owens added 14 points for the Cardinal (11-9, 4-5 Pac-10), who ended a four-game losing streak, matching its longest slide since a five-game streak in 1993.

Jeremy Green hit a jumper with 5:27 remaining to play to give the Cardinal a 60-50 lead.
