Beavers Announce Baseball Camps

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State will hold its annual winter baseball camps from Dec. 20-29 in McAlexander Fieldhouse on the OSU campus. Three different camps will be available, with an age group day camp Dec. 20-22, a hitting camp Dec. 27-28, and a pitching and catching camp Dec. 29.

The age group day camp will have sessions for players age 8-11 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., for players age 12-14 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and for players age 15-18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. from Dec. 20-22. The cost for the camp is $60 and campers should bring their own glove, batting gloves, baseball shoes, tennis shoes and cap. Catchers should bring their own gear. Check-in for the day camp will be Dec. 20 at 8:30 a.m. at McAlexander Fieldhouse.

Each session of the day camp will feature instruction in hitting, fielding, throwing, baserunning, pitching and catching. The correct techniques and fundamentals for all positions will be taught through drills and individual and small group instruction.

The hitting camp is for players age 8-18 and will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 27-28. The cost for the hitting camp is $75 and campers should bring their own bat (if possible), batting gloves and hat. Check-in for the camp will be Dec. 27 at 8:30 a.m. at McAlexander Fieldhouse.

The hitting camp will cover swing mechanics, count hitting, drills to isolate specific areas of the swing, situational hitting, bunting techniques, video analysis and live batting practice. Campers will be grouped according to age and skill levels.

The pitching and catching camp is for players age 8-18 and will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 29. The cost for the pitching and catching camp is $50 and campers should bring their own glove, hat, baseball shoes and tennis shoes. Catchers should bring their own gear. Check-in for the camp will be Dec. 29 at 8:30 a.m. at McAlexander Fieldhouse.

The pitching and catching camp is designed to cover all aspects of those skills. The camp is designed to give each player the necessary techniques, drills and conditioning information to develop his skills once they leave camp.
