TUCSON, Ariz. - The Oregon State baseball team's recruiting class, currently on campus and practicing in fall ball, has been rated ninth by Collegiate Baseball, as it was announced on Tuesday.

The online publication ranks the top 40 programs on an annual basis, and the Beavers are one of eight teams from the Pac-12 Conference ranked. Oregon State is No. 2 in the league, behind only USC, which is fifth overall.

The ranking is the highest for the Beavers since 2007, when Collegiate Baseball ranked the Beavers third. OSU was 12th in 2008, 25th in 2009 and 12th in 2010. Associate head coach Marty Lees has been the team's recruiting coordinator during that span.

The Beavers have five players on the roster who were drafted by Major League Baseball clubs in June but who elected to join the program. Jace Fry was a ninth-round selection in the draft by Oakland, while Jordan Dunatov was selected in the 14th round by Pittsburgh. Carlos Rodriguez was taken in the 20th round by Atlanta, and was joined in the 39th round by Cole Brocker (Detroit). Rounding out the five was Nate Esposito, a 46th-round selection by Oakland.

Fry and Rodriguez both received high honors from summer baseball. Fry was selected as the top prospect in the West Coast League and the top incoming freshman from all 21 summer leagues. Rodriguez, meanwhile, was selected as the No. 9 prospect in the California Collegiate League after playing for the San Luis Obispo Blues.

Oregon State also welcomes to campus Dylan Davis and Michael Conforto from Redmond High School (Wash.), Michael McCall and Spencer Manjarrez from Gig Harbor High School (Wash.), Mitchell Tripp from Meridian High School in Bellingham, Wash., as well as Riley Wilkerson from West Linn High School.

Each signed a national letter of intent with the Beavers last November.

Oregon State practices throughout the week as it continues its fall workouts. To follow how the Beavers are doing this fall, follow Twitter.com/Beaver_Baseball.
