Josh Osich Named WCCBL Player Of The Week; Summer Ball Review
CORVALLIS, Ore. After helping lead the Corvallis Knights to their first league title, Oregon State sophomore Josh Osich has been named the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League’s Player of the Week, it was announced Wednesday.
Osich went eight full innings in Monday night’s 4-1 championship-clinching win over Wenatchee. Osich, from Boise, Idaho, struck out six and walked just one in eight innings. He surrendered a run in the first inning and three hits overall before giving way to fellow OSU pitcher Taylor Starr, who closed out the game for his 10th save of the season.
Osich finished the 2008 summer ball season with a 5-0 record in 13 appearances, seven of which were starts. He struck out 52 in 46 innings of work and posted a 1.96 earned run average.
Joining Osich on the championship Knights squad were Starr, outfielder John Wallace and junior college signee Logan Lotti. Head coach of the club was Brooke Knight, who played for Oregon State from 1992-94.

Rob Folsom ... Made 39 appearances for Spokane of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League, starting 36 times and batting .244 ... Hit three doubles, two triples and two home runs while driving in 13 in 123 official at bats.
Mark Grbavac ... Made 11 appearances for Green Bay of the Northwoods League, going 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA ... Started three times and limited opponents to a .234 batting average in 30 innings ... Struck out 25.
Stephen Hagen ... Batted .323 with six doubles, one triple and one home run in 35 games for Kelowna of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League ... Drove in 18 ... Made an appearance at the WCCBL All-Star Game ... Named the All-Star Game MVP.
Kevin Hammon ... Appeared eight games for Bend of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League, including four starts, going 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA ... Struck out 29 in 25 innings.
Brandon Hayes ... Played in 23 games for Bend of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League, starting 17 ... Batted .273 with eight doubles, one triple and two home runs ... Drove in 18 and finished with a .481 slugging percentage.
