Four Beavers Named To WCCBL All-Star Team



WENATCHEE, Wash. – Oregon State players Taylor Starr, Stephen Hagen and Logan Boyd and signee Logan Lotti have been named to the 2008 West Coast Collegiate Baseball League All-Star team, league commissioner Ken Wilson announced Wednesday.

 

The WCCBL All-Star game will take place on July 22 at Larson Field in Moses Lake, Wash.

 

Starr and Lotti play for the Corvallis Knights and have been key parts of the club’s 19-8 record. Lotti, who played at Sierra College last season, is fourth in the league with a .340 batting average. He has played in 25 games, and is tied for the league lead with eight doubles and has also gone deep twice. Starr, meanwhile, has appeared in 12 games for the Knights and has five saves in 14 1/3 innings. The right-hander, who appeared in 16 games for Oregon State last season, has struck out 19 while opponents are hitting just .196 against him.

 

Boyd is one of the leading hitters for the Spokane RiverHawks. He has appeared in 27 games and is batting .299 with seven doubles and five home runs. Boyd, who will be a senior for the Beavers in 2009, has a team-leading .552 slugging percentage. He has also walked 25 times and is 5-for-8 in stolen-base attempts.

 

Hagen has appeared in 23 games for the Kelowna Falcons and is batting .297 with three doubles and six runs batted in. Seeing time primarily at first base, Hagen, who did appear in a game for the Beavers last season, has a .980 fielding percentage.
