Let's Play Two!
May 17, 2004
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State's home baseball game against Portland on Tuesday has become a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. The state's two NCAA Division I programs had been scheduled to meet in a single game, and they will also make up a game that had been rained out April 20 in Corvallis.
OSU (27-18 overall, 7-11 Pacific-10) will then continue its quest to reach the NCAA Regionals when the Beavers travel to Washington State this weekend for a series with games Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 12 noon.
After being swept at 14th-ranked Arizona State last weekend, the Beavers find themselves in seventh place in the Pac-10 standings but are just one game out of a fifth-place tie and three games out of a third-place tie. After playing at WSU, the Beavers finish the regular season at home against UCLA on May 28-30.
OSU's all-time series against Portland (10-41, 5-22 WCC) dates back to 1909 and the Beavers have a 133-58 edge over the Pilots. The teams have split their two previous meetings this season, with Oregon State winning 25-4 on March 31 in Portland and Portland winning 6-2 on May 4 in Portland.
