Feb. 16, 2009
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State junior catcher Ryan Ortiz has been named a preseason third-team All-American by the publication Baseball America, it was announced on Monday.
Ortiz had an outstanding sophomore campaign for the Beavers, batting .351 with five home runs and 55 runs batted in. He was named to the All-Pac-10 First Team last season.

The Sporting News, which does not have a weekly poll, placed Oregon State at No. 15 in its annual baseball yearbook.
