No. 3 Baseball Falls In Midweek Affair

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Garrett Nash went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season and Parker Berberet had two hits of his own but the third-ranked Oregon State baseball team lost a midweek non-conference game to Oregon, 7-2, Tuesday night at Goss Stadium.
Nash homered in the ninth after Brian Stamps singled to left to open the inning. It was his first of the season and second of his career. It put the Beavers on the board, snapping Oregon's bid for a shutout.
The left fielder also doubled in the sixth to help pace the Beavers offensively, as Oregon State finished with six hits on the night against starter Christian Jones. The left-hander went eight full innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one.
Jones improved to 4-2 this season.
The loss went to James Nygren, who allowed four hits and five runs in 2 1/3 innings. He dropped to 7-2 this season.
Berberet's two hits were singles; the first came in the fifth and another in the eighth.
Brett Hambright, KC Serna and Marcus Piazzisi each had two hits to pace Oregon offensively as the Ducks had nine on the night.
The Beavers dropped to 32-10 this season while Oregon improved to 23-20.
Oregon State focuses next on No. 21 California, which visits Goss Stadium in a three-game series that starts Friday night at 5:35 p.m.
