Beavers Have Strong Opening Weekend at UW Indoor Preview

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon State track & field team had a solid opening at the UW Indoor Preview at the Dempsey Indoor Center on Saturday, setting four school top-10 marks.
"It was a good first meet for us," began head coach Louie Quintana. "As a coach staff we wanted to watch our athletes; observe how they prepared and how they made adjustments."
Preparation turned into realization on Saturday as four Beavers made their way into the Oregon State record books.
Sophomore throws specialist Sydnie Guthrie-Baker finished in ninth place with a 15.56-meter throw, a personal record by nearly seven feet. Guthrie-Baker now holds the third-best weight throw mark all-time in Oregon State history.
Ann Wingeleth set all-time marks in the high jump (No. 10) and long jump (No. 5). Wingeleth, a transfer from Utah, finished in second place in the high jump with a 1.70-meter mark, followed with a 10th place finish in the long jump.
Freshman distance specialist Brigette Takeuchi won her heat in the 3,000 meters in her first collegiate race for Oregon State. Takeuchi notched the No. 5 all-time mark in the Beavers record books with a 9:54.05 time, finishing in 15th.
Gwyneth McMorris was edged by six-hundredths of a second in her heat of the 800-meter run. McMorris posted the fifth-best all-time mark in the event with a 2:16.16 time, and a seventh place finish.
Seven other Beavers posted career top-10 indoor times.

- Tarisa Olinski and Marin Zaccheo set the No. 7 and No. 9 marks in the 400 meters, respectively.
- The 1,600 meter relay team of Malika Washington, Saskia McNairy, Tarisa Olinski and Gwyneth McMorris posted the fourth all-time mark of 4:02.36.
