Beavers Resume Pac-12 Schedule vs Bruins

Oregon State squares off against UCLA at Osborn Aquatic Center on Friday
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University swimming program will kick off the new year with a Pac-12 dual against UCLA at the Osborn Aquatic Center this Friday. Both teams will take to the water starting at 7 p.m. PT.
The first 50 fans in attendance at the dual will have an opportunity to get a mermaid tail blanket as OSU takes on UCLA. The dual meet is also a part of Oregon State's Dam Worth It campaign to promote mental health awareness.
The Beavers are back in Corvallis after wrapping up their winter training in San Diego following the dual with San Diego State to close out the 2017 calendar year on December 30. The Aztecs took the dual at 124-100 at the Aztec Aquaplex.
At the dual, freshman Fernanda Rodriguez (Portland, Ore.) swam her primary evets, taking fifth in the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.38, added a time of 2:28.96 in the 200 breast and closed her day touching the wall in 2:16.88 in the 200 IM.
OSU also got strong performances from freshman Amina Bachir (Las Vegas, Nev.) with a time of 11:05.66 in the 1000 free, and from sophomore Merritt Allen (Bend, Ore.) in the 200 fly with a time of 2:11.68.
Sophomore Felicia Anderson (Portland, Ore.) took on the competition in the 200 free with a time of 1:57.81 before adding a time of 58.55 in the 100 fly, while junior Megan Lam (Portland, Ore.) posted a new personal best in the 50 free at 25.88 along with a season best in the 100 free at 55.80.
Oregon State last faced UCLA in the water on October 24, 2015, in a tri meet alongside UC Santa Barbara. The Bruins took the matchup 175-82.
Senior captain Noemie Midrez (Verviers, Liège, Belgium), then a sophomore, placed in the top five of the 500 free with a time of 5:21.18, while Lam, then a freshman, finished fourth in the 100 fly with a time of 58.92.
