Wiese Earns USA Basketball Invite
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Former Oregon State women's basketball player Sydney Wiese has been invited to join the 2017 USA Basketball Women's National Team Training Camp. Thirty athletes were invited to the camp, which will be held from Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
The camp will be utilized to help identify and prepare athletes for future USA National Team events, including the 2018 USA World Cup Team, and will mark the USA's first training camp under Staley's tenure as head coach.
The USA will train at 10 a.m. (PDT) daily, with sessions at Westmont College on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. On Oct. 2, the USA National Team's practice will be held at the University of California, Santa Barbara Recreation Center's Robertson Gymnasium.
Athletes competing in the WNBA Finals will not be available to participate.
Wiese is one of 14 players in conference history to make the All-Pac-12 Coaches Team four times. The Phoenix, Ariz., native, who has been named to the watch lists for the Wooden Award, Wade Trophy, Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and Lieberman Award, is the Pac-12's career record holder for 3-pointers. Wiese finished her career fifth in Oregon State history in career points, and holds the school record for career assists. Wiese led the Beavers with 15.2 points per game, as was among the top 16 in the nation in 3-point percentage.
The current Oregon State squad announced its 2017-18 nonconference schedule last week. You can read more about that here.
Women's basketball season ticket deposits are only $25 and can be made by clicking here or calling 541-737-2050. Season tickets can be purchased for as low as $84 for adults, $68 for children and seniors.
